Painting in a Snow Storm

oil on canvas

14 x 20 inches

January 15th 2006

I consider this one of my best paintings. It is a perfect moment.  I did not show it. I did not let it out of my sight. It was kept in my kitchen for 10 years. Many times I was asked to sell it. But something are not about money.

I gave this painting to Tyler Basu (when he and his beautiful wife Theresa had their first child)

Poem titled: Freezing

there is no home

no place to bury bones

there are no worms

in a winter’s garden

cardboard insulates the

pavement from the cold

these teeth are not rotten

and are not falling out

when the cold sets in

I become a bird, a tree

a red garbage can, a

telephone wire, pavement

melting in the sun

freezing and free
